HBO heeft The Gilded Age seizoen 4 van bedenker Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey) aangekondigd. De verlenging komt nog voor de seizoensfinale op 10 augustus, die een aantal verhaallijnen zal afronden en tegelijkertijd meer drama en intrige zal opleveren.

The Gilded Age, een coproductie tussen HBO en Universal Television, een divisie van Universal Studio Group, heeft tot nu toe zeven Emmy-nominaties gekregen, waaronder voor Beste Dramaserie, en één SAG Award-nominatie voor Beste Prestatie door een Ensemble in een Dramaserie. De Amerikaanse Gilded Age was een periode van enorme economische en sociale veranderingen, waarin imperiums werden opgebouwd – maar er geen overwinning was kwam zonder hiervoor offers te maken. Na de Operaoorlog is de oude elite verzwakt en probeert de familie Russell door te stoten naar de top van New York. Bertha jaagt een prestigieuze overwinning na, terwijl George alles inzet op een riskant spoorwegproject. Aan de overkant van het straat leidt Ada’s nieuwe rol tot spanningen in huize Brook, en ook Peggy’s ontluikende liefde met een dokter uit Newport roept weerstand op. Terwijl heel New York zich haast richting de toekomst, dreigt hun ambitie ten koste te gaan van wat hen echt dierbaar is.
The Gilded Age is bedacht en geproduceerd door Julian Fellowes op basis van een scenario dat hij samen met Sonja Warfield schreef.
