Afgelopen nacht werden de BAFTA Awards 2023 uitgereikt.
De Duitse oorlogsfilm All Quiet on the Western Front (Im Westen nichts Neues) is in Londen de grote winnaar van de BAFTA’s geworden. De Netflix-film verzilverde zeven van de veertien nominaties.
All Quiet on the Western Front werd onder meer verkozen tot beste film. Daarnaast won de film de prijs voor beste geluid en beste filmmuziek. De Duitse filmmaker Edward Berger werd door de British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) verkozen tot beste regisseur. Daarmee verbrak het een BAFTA-record voor meest gewonnen prijzen door een niet-Engelstalige film.
Daarnaast waren Everything Everywhere All At Once en The Banshees of Inisherin veelvuldig genomineerd voor de Britse filmprijzen. Beiden maakten kans in tien categorieën. Laatstgenoemde wist drie nominaties te verzilveren. Everything Everywhere All At Once won één prijs.
