Marvel serie MPower op Disney Plus

Disney Plus komt met de vierdelige Marvel docureeks MPower, waarin vrouwelijke personages uit het MCU aan bod komen. Van Carol Danvers en Wanda Maximoff tot de vrouwen van Wakanda en The Guardians of the Galaxy, MPower pakt de reizen van deze personages uit vanaf hun geboorte in Marvel Comics tot de MCU en verder. Archiefbeelden, fantasierijke animaties en openhartige interviews werken samen om te profileren hoe deze personages en de vrouwen achter hun succes fans over de hele wereld hebben beïnvloed.

Marvel serie MPower 

In de eerste aflevering wordt gefocust op Okoye (Danai Gurira), Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o), Ayo (Florence Kasumba), en Shuri (Letitia Wright). Aflevering 2 toont het verhaal van Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), gevolgd door Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), en de reeks sluit af met Gamora (Zoë Saldaña) en haar ingewikkelde relatie met haar zus Nebula (Karen Gillan).

Uitvoerend producent Justin W. Hochberg zei:

“Every hero has an epic origin story and so does this series. When I conceived MPower, I did it out of love for my teen daughter so she would have more icons to look up to, voices to learn from, and role models to help her impact the world. Today, that vision is now a reality thanks to Brie Larsen, Elizabeth Olsen, the women of Wakanda, and, Zoë Saldaña, whose leadership was ‘Mpowering.’”

Saldaña vertelde:

“MPower is a tribute to women’s representation and empowerment. We’re enthused to have the involvement of a diverse group of women whose voices and stories will serve as a source of inspiration. Our hope is that this series will ignite meaningful conversations and drive real change towards a more equal and inclusive world.”

Uitvoerend producent Mark Herzog:

De serie is geregisseerd door Quinn Wilson en uitvoerend geproduceerd door Victoria Alonso, Mark Herzog, Andie Beckerman, Zoe Saldaña, Cisely Saldaña, Mariel Saldaña, Justin W. Hochberg, Lauren Moore Morden, Jeff Redmond, Sarah Girgis; Lauren Goralski fungeert als coproducent.
